How We Photographed Our First Wedding

Rebekah & Adan Becerra - 2/22/2025

It all started with a college friendship. I first met Rebekah & Adan when I was a resident advisor at our college. Over the course of a few years, we grew up and talked briefly here and there, but our chats were still filled with so much love and excitement for each other and our goals. In the fall of 2024 I reached out to Rebekah asking if she had a photographer for their wedding. We had been invited, but I wanted to shoot our shot. Worst case, she said ‘no’ and we still got to have an amazing night. Only, Rebekah was so excited. We had a few chats about her vision, budget, etc. and we were more than thrilled to be granted this opportunity.

We spent months preparing for the big day. Between getting the right camera gear, incorporating 35mm film, and coming up with a secret gift to honor the newlyweds, this was a big task. Fast forward to February 2025, the day had come. We spent 12+ hours we will never forget and will forever cherish.

To give a rundown, the wedding day timeline looked a little like this:

8:00 AM - Girls getting ready (makeup & hair)
9:00 AM - Detail photos, flat lays, venue shots
10:00 AM - Bride makeup & hair
11:30 AM - Charcuterie board & snacks
12:00 PM - Groomsmen getting ready
1:00 PM - Solo Bridals & First Look
2:00 PM - Wedding Party Photos
3:00 PM - Family Photos
4:00 PM - Ceremony Starts
4:30 PM - Ceremony Ends
4:45 PM - Sunset Bridals with Couple
5:00 PM - Grand Entrance & First Dances
5:30 PM - Dinner
6:00 PM - Toast & Speeches
6:15 PM - Cake Cutting
6:45 PM - Photo Song Run for All Guest Pics
7:00 PM - Dancing Begins
10:30 PM - Bubble Send Off

This timeline ended up being perfect. We saved time in some areas and went a little over in others - as you know, wedding days are unpredictable. Yet, we managed to stay on task and on time the whole day. We even helped damage control some things as the day progressed, which made us feel great that we could take stress off of our bride.

PRO-TIP:
Something that made us feel more prepared for this wedding was attending the rehearsal the night before. If you a photographer and are able to attend your couple’s rehearsal dinner, DO IT. It will help TREMENDOUSLY. If you are a couple getting married, think about inviting your photographers to your rehearsal, because it saves the questions on the day-of, allows you to get familiar with them in person if you haven’t met before, and overall sets everyone at ease knowing where they need to be. No matter what, a good photographer will be able to handle whatever comes their way. Gabe and I did our position walk-throughs as the party practiced their positioning. It saves so much time and stress when everyone has and idea of what to expect.

So, while we were nervous, all our preparation paid off. We balanced digital, film & polaroid photos, tying grooms’ ties & folding their pocket squares, and aiding the vendors all on our first day with ease. We worked from 8am and finished around 11:30pm. While our bodies were sore, our hearts were full of joy, and nothing compared to the happiness and gratitude our couple expressed to us for our work.

We will forever be grateful for Rebekah and Adan for allowing us to document such an important part of their story that led us to our passion for documenting weddings here at GxG Photography.

You two are amazing.

To Rebekah & Adan
